ZhaBei is one of the nine central urban areas of ShangHai, ZhaBei District is located in the north of Shanghai, close to SuZhou river in the south, facing HuangPu District and JingAn District over the river, with BaoShan District on the north, HongKou District on the east and PuTuo District on the west. The district covers an area of 29.2 square kilometers, with a resident population of 810,000.

ZhaBei has become a major education hub within the ShangHai municipality. There are now over 151 various educational facilities including universities, high schools, primary schools and kindergartens. ZhaBei District also hosts the ShangHai Multimedia Valley with the incubation of media and IT enterprise. Major companies located in ZhaBei are Royal Philips Electronics and Shanghai Bell Alcatel Business Systems Co., Ltd.

As SuZhou Creek is zigzagged across the southern part of Zhabei District (close to Jing'an district where NanJing Lu Xi commercial area is – Plaza 66, ShangHai Centre, CITIC Square, Westgate Mall, etc.), many developers have fully utilized the natural resources of the SuZhou Creek to create a friendly living environment.
